does anyone know why monsters can't do magic?
i'm not talking about being able to do alchemy, i know that monsters can follow recipes and make stuff that way (;¬_¬)
but monsters are just as connected to the magic of this world as the witches are
so what gives???

is it just that no monster's ever been successful and so everyone's just assuming they can't?
or is there actually something that makes it so they can't

[It seems a good idea to team up with one of the more experienced, older witches on something like this. Or at least, that's what Akko assumes. It just doesn't seem all that young and hip a subject to be delving into.]

I've already asked and they all tell me the same thing. I haven't found any leads on my research, either.

[It does sound like a dead end all around.]

But I still don't think it's impossible.

is anyone at least looking into why the bonds work the way they do?? maybe there's something there

I agree that it's worth looking into some more. I'll ask again and see what they have to say.

I know of at least one other person who wants an answer to your question, so I can safely say that you're not the only one.

She rarely ever applies herself to her studies.

She's rude.

And hardly ever thinks things through.

But at the end of the day, there's no one else I would rather have by my side.

[Diana may or may not realize it, but she just got really close to outing Akko with her initial assessment. Akko was definitely gearing up to make a staunch defense of herself (which is really to say loudly proclaim she is not those things and how would she now and and and!]

[But Diana manages to save Akko from herself with the compliment. Akko immediately pauses, feeling a little warmer to see Diana say something like that. She would have thought Diana would have preferred Hannah or Barbara to be here way before she'd necessarily want Akko around. Even if they've become better friends toward one another since they first met, Hannah and Barbara were just always glued to the hip with each other and Diana. So, they both seem like the obvious choice for Diana to want to have here... But she'd rather Akko?]
