does anyone know why monsters can't do magic?
i'm not talking about being able to do alchemy, i know that monsters can follow recipes and make stuff that way (;¬_¬)
but monsters are just as connected to the magic of this world as the witches are
so what gives???

is it just that no monster's ever been successful and so everyone's just assuming they can't?
or is there actually something that makes it so they can't

I honestly didn't even think about that and the thought of baby monsters just makes this all even more confusing.

Which is almost impressive, really.

I kind of thought of the bond empowering the which as being a sort of... focus? Witches are constantly generating mana, however that works, and we know they're generating more than is safe for them. So maybe the drain off is sapping just enough to make it more controllable.

i wonder if it varies from witch to witch in that case
like maybe some witches need more magic taken by the monster(s) they're bonded to and some don't need as much

Because witches generate mana differently, you mean?

I wouldn't be surprised, but how would you test that?

i would think they do
or else everyone would probably learn magic at the same rate or something

idk but i'd think the coven probably knows something about it too
or i hope they do anyway

[Akko is not one for thinking things through before doing, but Bonds, in general, seem like a fairly big thing to not totally think through.]

A lot of this stuff would be a lot easier to figure out if you could just ask the coven directly, wouldn't it?

I mean, assuming that they'd just give straight answers.

[They don't always talk in riddles, but some subjects they just seem... evasive on.]

and they don't want anybody to know they don't know

That or there are just some things they don't want to talk about for some reason.

Or both.

they don't totally trust us right??
i mean the coven seems nicer than other parts here
but the city's never been totally nice

I'm not even sure it's about being nice or not. A lot of this stuff is information they might consider just theirs, and we aren't really members... Not even the witches.

Once could say the same about literally everyone on this world, but that doesn't mean people aren't going to hoard information.

Especially if they think it could be used against them.

Well they don't have much reason to trust us.

Especially since most of us don't really trust them. It's kind of a two-way street, you know?

Well, most of us are just trying to get home, and they're trying to clean up the cwyld, which they apparently need us for. I'd like to think the best way to do both of those things is for us to work together, but not everyone agrees.

Especially since they did kinda drag us here in the first place.
