[ Considering how long she's been here now and how... enthusiastic her Coven mentors have been about her finding a Bond, Yona's finally worked up the courage to try and use this strange device for herself and ask for some advice. ]

How did those of you who have made Bonds know that your partner was right for you? Was it just something casual and easy? Was it something deeper than that? Did you have a hard time finding someone when you first arrived?

[ Was that too intrusive? Insecure? She hopes not... ]

And those of you who haven't yet... what is it you're looking for?

[ She laughs softly at that. ]

There's nothing wrong with being bold. I don't mind at all.

It just feels like something very personal, is all. And yes, I suppose I might have a little more difficulty than most, letting someone that close that quickly.

[ She can hear that smile in his voice, so she doesn't mind giving an honest answer, even if she may stumble over a word or two in her admission.

Trust issues. They complicate everything. ]

Ah--not an uncommon issue, that. I know I was afraid of what my potential Bonded might find in me--and, [a moment's hesitation, because this is hard for him to talk about, too,] that they'd turn away from me for it.

[ She understands that, all too well.

Her voice softens, a small smile in her tone as she gives a quiet hum. ]

I think a great many of us have fears like that. But I'm glad your Bonded did not disappoint. [ She can hear the fondness in his voice when he speaks of it. ] I think that's a sign that you truly have found someone special.

[He laughs, quiet and gentle, at that.] I'm glad of it, too. Though--while I'd not trade them for the world--I'd hesitate to call it special, like I was simply fortunate in my choices and it's all been roses from there. Certainly there was the Maker's own grace in my finding them, but it was also work on all our parts, too--seeing each other's weak, dark, and uncertain places and deciding we could live with them and help each other out of them.

It's something any of us can do, if we're minded to. That's why I said what I did about building it, and not hesitating until you think you've found the right one. Even that worthy may be hiding things that will challenge the both of you.

[ She takes his words to heart, because they resonate with her and with the things she's already experienced - even long before arriving here. ]

Maybe that doesn't make it less special. I think anything worthwhile, anything we come to cherish as precious to us, takes some amount of work to discover or achieve. I think that only adds to it, in some ways.

But I appreciate your words - and your perspective. It's helped a great deal.

A woman after my own heart, there. Yes--it's what we've put into our Bonds that sets them apart.
