[Some people might recognise the voice, some might even remember her making enquires about monsters and recommendations for good books in the library. Or not, it'd been slow progress for the fae. Because she'd found that...books were so, so dry. They made her want to sleep. So she'd been surprised to find a book that she could get through. It's information though-]

Is it true that really powerful vampires have diamond-like skin that reflects sunlight back instead of being burnt by it?

I'm not sure, that's why I was asking. It seems like it's just to show off... They're that strong that they don't need to hide.

Tacky. Who does that? Reflective skin has got to be more of a curse in daily life, though. For one thing, it must be hot as Thal's balls.

I've not heard of it, though, and I certainly don't ever see any strutting around here. What gave you that idea?

Read it in a book.

Though having reflective skin isn't that hot. I had it in one of the dreams and parts would fall off, but I've been told I wasn't a vampire.

Nonfiction? [Sounded out, like someone whose never heard that word before.] No, it says it's a guidebook.

A guidebook to what, if I may ask? Monster variants?

YEs, it specializes on nocturnal monsters.

Are... uh. Are you sure this is all trustworthy info? Not that I claim to be an expert on the subject either, but... anyone can write something on a page and call it a fact. Right?

Wouldn't the library only have things for studying?

Yes, and people also sell things in the markets that don't necessarily do what it says on the label. Or at least, not how one might assume they do at purchase. I don't doubt there's a few nuggets of misinformation buried somewhere likewise, though I can't say for sure if that's one of them.

What made you want to study up on creatures of the night, anyway?

I know that...But a witch from the coven recommended it when I was looking. [They were supposed to be in the know. But she huffs.]

Why wouldn't I be? ...I'm still pretty new to all this, and we don't have stories about these things back home.

Not from somewhere that has a lot of magic, are you? I suppose that's a perfectly good reason. How do you defend yourselves, then, if not by magical means? Your world surely must have something else that's interesting, if not mythical creatures, right?

Well, who knows, maybe diamond vampires do exist. I'll eat my words if I meet one, I promise you.

No. We didn't have magic at all. [It's blunt. There was titans but did they count as magic, they'd always just been a thing.] We have blades and guns. [A hum.]

If they exist, they're rare. But they'll be hard to miss...Or it was a fae mistaken for one.
