[ If there's a working network around here, it would be a stupid mistake to not use it. And while he's not above just reading the backlog, he can't find some information he's actually looking for

time to act clueless on the network, apparently ]

so, i'm here to add to the pile of the "dumb shit newbies ask"

they really just let us loose on the city, huh? while i don't mind being left to my own devices, that whole looming threat of going fucking crazy— that's an unfun part about it

how did this bonding work out for you guys, when you first got here?

been wondering— everyone is talking about the importance of capital 'B' bonding, but how about that tempbond potion? aside for the price obviously. are there any downsides for prolonged use? something to watch out for? limit with how many people you can drink that with?

if there are any parties where we meet, drink a round of shots or two, and then drink these temp potions to get through the moons and all the feral shit— just sign me in. if there are none, then consider it a suggestion

also a newbie so i can't help you out that way, but
if you wanna experiment with potions, i'm up for it. especially if you're paying.

i'm always cute ;)
but 50/50 sounds good so long as you pay for drinks

Bonding with the same kind as you just worsens your own condition. Better find a witch before the full moons. Trying more than three bonds at max may knock you out until the additional bonds are broken or turn you feral.

There's also the old-fashioned option of sex.

[Instead of text, there is a voice: familiar, sounding incredulous.]

Reno? What are you doing here?

[There's a chance she's wrong, but she has a feeling...]

It's possible to share magical energy during sex. Of course the requirement is the same as for bonding- one monster and one witch. Orgy doesn't count.

-unless you have several witches you can mooch off from.

[Decidedly not the Turk she's expecting to reply, but even he couldn't resist.]

What about you? Do you ever stay out of trouble?

Just a hunch! [She sounds a little amused, now.]

I'm good at guessing, don't you know? One of my many talents.

No Bonding parties that I know of, sorry. You'll have to get to know people the old fashioned way.

[...]

Hey, what's the last thing you remember? I'm curious.

Oh boy, a two-for-one special! Aren't I lucky.

[Oh boy was right. She's just waiting to get hit with another mismatched timeline incident.]

I'll have you know, I haven't gotten into any trouble that I can't get out of!

Hi, Rude. Long time no see.
boneofsword: (old regrets are heavy)

Not really. It's simply one of the options to stave off the worst and buy yourself some more time.

The longer you stay without the actual bond the harder is to stay sane, not only during the moons. It's harder to differentiate friend from foe.
boneofsword: (matter of no importance)

[personal profile] boneofsword 2020-07-05 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
There's no real alternative. Temporary remedies help you stay sane until you find someone you can trust enough to form a bond.

Honestly, they should be providing those in a safe way to us at the start, considering it's their world that's doing this to us.

They're less organized than you think. At least with the Bonds. We're usually left to our own devices. People do temp bond, though, especially if you're venturing out of the city. I've done it a few times. It's no big deal.

As for how long I've been here... longer than you!

I asked a question first. Don't try and pull a fast one on me.

[Well then.

Sephiroth is not a man who responds much to the network to start, but that obvious exchange with Aerith is too relevant to ignore. Considering his run-ins with Shinra-adjacent not that long ago, maybe he shouldn’t be surprised to learn of Reno's presence here, and yet this address to the network is still enough to jar a reply out of him.

Ignoring basically everything in this post—]

i havent heard of temp bonding parties but shit, go for it. sounds like a good time.

[fauns fuckin' love parties ok even if he, personally, isn't a huge fan. its a weird time.]

anyway the downside is you gotta pay for em and drink them every day
upside of bonding is that its done and dealt with

when i bonded i just asked one of the first guys i talked to once i got here. he was a witch, so i suggested bonding so we didnt have to deal with the crazy or exploding thing. its worked out pretty well. still bonded like a year later.

If I answer these questions will it actually make any difference in whether or not you chose to Bond?

Why would you prefer a temporary bond to a permanent one? It seems like a lot of hassle with little payoff.
