[ Hello there, network! It's a face that many of you haven't seen for awhile, he thinks. This time, there's no chaos attached to this post. ]

Hard to believe it's been a year here. Is this the sort of anniversary someone celebrates? It's my 'Abducted to a strange planet' anniversary. Maybe I'll get someone [ ahem ] to make a cake or something. Castella is my favorite, by the way.

[ He's not going to push his luck. ]

So those who have been here for awhile, what have you learned since arriving? If you're ... newer, what do you hope to learn?

Personally, I learned that despite monsters being a big thing: deer with fingers are still a novelty. Oh, and pet ownership is still weird to me. I don't think it'll ever not be weird.

[ There's a small quirk of the corner of his mouth, and the slightest, small smile when he makes the offer. It's reminiscent of what he posted almost a year ago. Just way more -- polite. ]

That being said - I am going to give the same opportunity that I gave when I first arrived:

I am not a Monster. I am a deer who happens to be a witch. I never saw a human before getting here. And I have ten fingers and five toes.

And, if you have any questions, it's okay to ask, I promise. I don't bite. No question is too weird at this point, I think.

I guess a play would be one way to get a message out, when the ruling party wants that message contained.

[ He wonders what it could be, but doesn't really want to get deep into the inner workings of Aefenglom without reason to. He deals with enough of that back home. He might have recently betrayed his country, in fact. ]

Did you do performances back home? [ He's trying to imagine ... animal performances now. ]

I do. I've performed here, both legally and not. Theater was a big deal in my high school.

[ A really. Really big deal. ]

There's not much to worry about when you have illusion magic available to you.

They taught that in school? I thought they mostly taught language and history in school.

-- Not that I could go to one for very long. [ Having enlisted in the military at 12. ]

It was an extracurricular. Like, you didn't take time during classes, it was after the school day had ended. You didn't get scored, but they were competitive and you still learned valuable skills.

Ah - is that so? We can go to school until we're twenty-two, if we choose to go to university.

[trost]

[ The concept of having extra school things to do that do not involve school work is a different one for sure. ]

Until you're twenty-two ...? What the hell? Shouldn't you be working and trying to provide by then?

Some kids do, if they have to. Some kids don't. It entirely depends on the family, and I'm fairly lucky. Still, classwork is considered work to a lot of families and parents often want their children to succeed.

That's pretty nice.

Most kids where I come from have to enlist at 12 if they wanna get anywhere in life.

[rightfoot]

Enlist?

[ oh - ]

Oh, we don't have anything going on that would need anyone to enlist. We live peacefully, for the most part.

Sounds nice. [ Jealous. Though, he does remember what Louis had said before. ]

Wait. Didn't you say carnivores and herbivores live side by side?

[rightfoot]

I did. The theater club alone had a lot of variety, sheep, wolves, tigers. And that's just a small group compared to our entire population.

[trost]

And that doesn't raise any kind of problem ...?

[rightfoot]

Well, it's certainly not perfect. But humans are all the same species and still fight, and kill, each other. People get hurt sometimes, but I would say it's about what you'd expect when intelligent beings live side-by-side.
