Say someone wanted to take up gardening but has never grown anything before. What advice would you give them to start?

[He's not bothering to add 'for a friend' or anything, and just vaguely hiding that he's asking for himself.]

If there's a faun around, everything is just going to grow better as a general rule. You should consider Bonding with one, or at least making really good friends.

[L's glad to share what he knows, but... the undeniable anxiety admittedly exists. This person can't have his faun.]

Aren't they some of the more common monsters in Aefenglom? They're friendly, too.

[To the point where they'd even give him the time of day.]

It depends on what they want to grow. Normally... Here they'd have to check to make sure the plant won't try to eat them once it's grown.

You're going to have to be more specific...Growing apples is very different to strawberries.

That's a good one to start with, they're not fussy. Just make sure the berries can't touch the ground when their growing.
stopfen: (to the depths of you)

[There's a hum.]

Oh, there's a plant here that looks a lot like strawberries. But the berries can move on their own, make sure which ones you get.

[Might have done that.]

The writing on the package...If you can read the words they use in shops. [Because she didn't use a latin alphabet, she had no chance of reading it.]

Or asking, now you're aware of it.

Better than getting yourself into trouble.
Unless those weeds start up or something.

[ Who's assuming? ]

I'd hope so.
What are you looking to grow?

Guess that's a good enough start.
Might want to hurry it up before winter comes though.

Well, I got lucky and ended up a faun, so I'm not sure how much advice I can give...

I would recommend being careful with what you get, though. Don't plant anything like mint or kudzu.

It has a tendency to take over the land and grow out of control. So unless you want a lot of mint, don't plant it in your garden.

A horrible beast of a plant. If not properly kept at back it can overtake entire forests and buildings.

pick something that's hard to kill first

otherwise you'll just end up disappointed

[What no she's not speaking from personal experience or anything.]
long_live_the_queen: (no don't open that)

[oh are we talking about drugs]

pink honeysuckle is easy to grow. it's pretty and smells nice

[And the Aef-equivalent Tatarian honeysuckle conveniently hits her like catnip without being as incriminating!]

takes over like a weed if you're not careful though

[good way to summon EVERY FAUN with this message!!]

the covens actually got some classes sometimes
monsters can go too but they kinda look at you funny

[Also he ended up having his eyes glaze over and didn't actually learn anything but he tried???]

anyway better to start with something kinda established instead of only seeds, especially if you dont got any magic to help it
then you can actually get used to taking care of it
they all like different kinds and types of light and water so talk to the person you get it from to figure it out
if you want fruit it usually takes a few years to start producing any but like people up there said, talk to a faun and they can kinda speed things up for you
or maybe like a witch who does plants
