[On the afternoon of the 1st, a disgruntled post goes up on the network.]
Did you know some moths produce silk from their salivary glands? Because I didn't until after I spat out a bunch of string this morning.
[He didn't make that connection immediately, mind you; after the initial utter bafflement, he took the time to go do more research on Fae and the insects they resemble. Nerd.]
Someone let me know if there's a market for organic fae silk. And if you could invent some kind of google or wikipedia while you're at it, that would be appreciated.
[Do you know how LONG it takes to look through PHYSICAL BOOKS]

[Congratulations, Tsutha! That was a genuine chuckle you managed to get out of him.]
Yeah, magic here certainly seems complex. [He used his mostly from instinct back home, but he didn't exactly have anyone to teach him about it at the time. He does pause for a moment, though, considering how heavily a lot of his own research has relied on books... and reading. Sure, most of the classes he's seen have been lectures, but there's a lot she could be missing.]
Hey... I may not be able to use Witch magic, but I'm a pretty quick learner. Do you want me to help with your classes?
no subject
Really? You would do that? Don't you have classes of your own and other stuff to deal with? [ She seems to remember there being Coven classes for monsters as well, though she can't help the tone of hopefulness in her voice. ]
no subject
Well, there's only so much I'm going to be able to do, if I've heard right—illusions, minor lucky trinkets, things like that. And it'll be a good distraction for me. I don't think I can deal with a lot of free time, right now.
[Even if he can't use it, he's always had an inclination towards the theoretical, and learning about what kind of things are possible certainly can't hurt.]
So yeah, I'd like to help if I can.

That would be [ deep, relieved sigh ] really great. There's this one spell I'm trying to learn... it's one I knew back home, and I described it to the witch at the Coven, and she gave me this book she says has the spell in it, but... I can't... [ The book does her no good if she can't read it. ]
If you could just help me with that one spell, I promise, I'll find a way to pay you back for it.

[It's said without hesitation. Perhaps off the network he'll bring up the core of the problem and offer more than just helping her with specific spells and classes, but she seems hesitant to bring it up here, so he doesn't want to make it too obvious in a public forum.]
What is the spell, by the way?
no subject
It's called Absorb Elements! ...Well, I mean, that's what it's called back home. I don't know if they call it something else here.
Basically, if someone attacks me with a spell that does elemental harm-- fire, ice, lightning, acid, stuff like that-- then I can absorb the incoming energy, lower the amount of damage I take, and then redirect the damage to the next person I hit with my weapon.

[He sure wishes he'd had that back home... (:]
Have you heard what kinds of... [err, monsters doesn't really work in this context, does it.] creatures there are here? Things that might attack you outside the city, I mean.
no subject
For the only half-orc present in Geardagas, she's not exactly a textbook example of one. ]
I heard they're diseased or something, right? And it's super infectious, so we have to be careful if or when we leave the city.
[ Really, that news was the only thing keeping her inside the city walls. Setting down roots, especially in a town, isn't normally her style. ]
no subject
R-right. [The evil magic plague. A nice reminder of why he has little desire to head outside the city walls any time soon... or like, ever.] The Cwyld. Apparently I'm pretty susceptible to it, or... I will be.
no subject
Because you're a monster? Or because of the kind of monster you are?
no subject
[That said, he doesn't want her to worry too much on his behalf, especially over something he actually can do something about.]
So I plan to be careful about it. If I do ever have to go out there, [god forbid] I'll take every precaution I can.
[... he was basically planning to never leave the city, but what if there's an emergency? He's had a lot on his mind, so the idea hadn't come up yet.]
Hmm. I guess I should look into that.

[ Destroy it... by setting it on fire! ]

[Protecting and helping each other probably is part of what most bonded partners do. Not that he's paid much attention to the customs; he really could not care less about the culture around them.
... perhaps he should have paid a little more attention regarding the sharing of emotions, but.]
Let me know when you want me to help out with that spell. I have some jobs I'm looking into later today, but I'm sure I can make time at some point this week.

[She's staying at an inn, rather than the free housing? Maybe that's just her comfort level... he can't pretend he understands the adventuring life.]
Alright, sure. Tomorrow night, then? If you're not too tired by then.
no subject
Tomorrow night sounds good! I'll save you some dinner to pay you back, how about that?

[He's not about to complain about free food—as long as he doesn't have to deal with any rowdy patrons for more than a minute or two, anyway. There's only so much his
delicatesensibilities can take... before he complains, that is.]I'll see you then.
