[On the afternoon of the 1st, a disgruntled post goes up on the network.]
Did you know some moths produce silk from their salivary glands? Because I didn't until after I spat out a bunch of string this morning.
[He didn't make that connection immediately, mind you; after the initial utter bafflement, he took the time to go do more research on Fae and the insects they resemble. Nerd.]
Someone let me know if there's a market for organic fae silk. And if you could invent some kind of google or wikipedia while you're at it, that would be appreciated.
[Do you know how LONG it takes to look through PHYSICAL BOOKS]

so youre probably ok !

Thanks. That's even less appealing, but good to know.
[It's sad that he's inclined to take that claim seriously. He thought his life was absurd enough, and then he gets dropped here.]
None of this is ever going to feel normal.

think you could probably get away with a lighter or something
did your world not have magic or anything like that ?
no subject
[There's also previous psychological fire problems, but that's not important. He'd rather be strangled by plants than try to light a match. And he might even have a better chance of survival that way! Who knows.]
It isn't common. Most people don't think it exists, which included me until half a year ago.
no subject
well if you ever need help with hot stuff let me know !
im kinda ok at the little fire spells now :)
thats killer though !
that youre from somewhere with magic i mean
we dont got that at all at home
dont think anyway

[That's an awfully nice offer for a stranger, but this guy seems pretty open. That said... perhaps he'd prefer to get someone who's a little better than "kinda ok" to toss around fire anywhere in his vicinity...]
I kind of liked it better without magic, honestly. But I get what you mean. Maybe if it wasn't something that we were only given because of a dangerous situation, I would like it more.

i dunno
i know theres a lot of bad stuff going on here and all
but it just feels
uh
really cool to me ?
guess its like
shit would still be bad even if we didnt have it
so its not like not enjoying its gonna change that
you know ?

[Even if he's having a hard time mustering up much enthusiasm.]
I just miss when I didn't have to worry about turning into anything or getting attacked by monsters.
no subject
it can get real scary sometimes not gonna lie
but everyone heres real cool
not just like with the regular stuff but like
when shit gets intense theres always someone around to help
so its not too bad in the end
i dont think anyway

[It doesn't keep him from turning into something he's not, but hey. He doesn't expect a Witch to really understand, though, so he just tries to redirect the conversation.]
I'm surprised the city has been so welcoming.
no subject
really ? how come ?
were here to help and all
no subject
Are we? It just seems to me like a bunch of random people from different worlds were dumped into their city without warning. There's no real guarantee we wouldn't start causing chaos.
[Ferran himself actually has no intentions of furthering any causes as much as he just plans to survive, but he won't say that.]
no subject
but its not like we can do anything people here cant
or if we have nobodys told me about it
no subject
[He wonders if this guy comes from a much nicer place where outsiders are just welcomed in, or if he's just trying to be optimistic.]
They could have easily just tossed us all into a prison or thrown us out of the city and not dealt with us at all.
no subject
yeah probably
but i guess uh
even if somebody didnt want to help that doesnt mean theyre gonna be a problem or nothing
i dunno if youve been out into the wilde yet or nothing
but shits real bad
they really need all the help they can get
no subject
But in his mind, desperation is definitely a better—or rather, a more likely motivation. It makes a lot more sense to him that the city would be kind to people more capable of protecting them.]
Because of the Cwyld, right? That's another thing Fae have to avoid, so I'll just have to hope everyone else can handle it.
no subject
even like the trees and stuff can get sick with it
kinda creepy
no subject
[That's a big no thanks!! Just an all-around bad idea.]
If I'm more likely to catch it, I'd rather just never leave the city than take the risk.
no subject
oh
but if youre gonna be real careful like that then i wouldnt get too near the city walls either
no subject
[It's a little concerning, though... is it not completely kept out? If it's a magic plague, he guesses all bets are off.]
Do they have outbreaks or anything inside the walls?
no subject
or nobodys ever talked about it since ive been here
but theres something kinda similar in the underground city
and a couple months ago this algae stuff started eating at it and stuff was getting in
dont think theres really a problem or nothing
like really ! honest
but if youre wanna be like
really really careful
i guess you gotta think about that kinda thing
no subject
I'll have to look into it. I'd rather worry about the possibility so I can prepare for it, so thank you, genuinely. I don't want to end up being a problem or suffering for no good reason.
[... well, that's how he feels about the Cwyld and fire, anyway. And he's gotten used to being hyper-vigilant about his surroundings, so it's really just back to normal.]
no subject
if youre doing your best nobodys gonna blame you for nothing
no subject
[It's only after he types it that he realizes how much that mindset stems from what he'd just escaped back home, where he was absolutely both and possibly blamed for it by the others on his team. Their looks of distrust still stick in his head when he thinks of his friends, which just spirals out into all the other issues...
Maybe it's a little bit about blame. But not entirely.]
I'm just trying to do better. Be better than I have been.
no subject
uh
but i still wouldnt get too down on yourself if you mess up a little now and then
happens even when youre practicing :)
