Name: Cú Chulainn (Caster)
Date: late-Ieneuer, when the kidnappings related to The Salvation of Geardagas start
Format: text
There's been a word on the streets, of people being assaulted, disappearing attempts of kidnappings— that's not a word anyone who was here a year ago wants to hear again, plenty of us might be already on edge. But whatever is going on this time? Whoever it is? They're not as good as the scum behind what happened a year ago. That means we have a bigger window to act and to protect each other.
My idea is: let's put together a list of Mirrorbounds willing to guard those returning home. Whether it's for those who work far away from the Haven or stay at Coven classes long after its dark or just anyone that would feel safer in the company.
I'll start
I work at Inkchanted, it's located in the docks, near the Slydog tavern. I tend to work afternoons and evenings, so if anyone also finishes their job at docks around that time, I can walk you back to Haven. I could also pick up someone working on the western edges of the shopping district.

Last thing I'd like to see is the repeat of what happened last year. That would mean that people of this city have learned nothing. I'd like to think they did.

However, people do not always learn. So perhaps we will need to try again.

While I'd rather refrain from considering sword as a pedagogical tool it does work wonders in particularly obstinate cases.

But on a more serious note, I would have banished person responsible for security in this city if this was my domain.
[Most likely he'd get the guy executed for criminal negligence... but mostly for making him look bad. You don't let your merchants, farmers or craftsmen get kidnapped and murdered by bored idiots or you end with having no city to rule. At least, that's how it worked in his time.]

Even the best of kings and rulers cannot place soldiers at every avenue of approach.
no subject
Yes, that's also correct. But every avenue is seldom necessary. Trouble tends to have a source, dissent does not just spread randomly.

Although credit in this case may be the wrong word.
no subject
If I give them, as you say, too little credit that is only because the common man is cowardly and shortsighted creature. He sees not further than the end of his backyard and detests all risks no matter how small. Still, while he might be a simpleton, he's rarely a depraved one.

And we will disagree on that matter. The "common man" is who we fight for. Who we protect. They are often far braver and more intelligent than you give them credit for, if limited by birth and position.

I do feel the need to correct one thing though. I would never say that one's birth determines one's capacity for virtue or vice. Exceptional people come from different backgrounds so if I was talking about the common man, I didn't mean necessarily someone of low birth. Just someone average. I'd bet you'd find as many cowards among nobles of this city as among its shoemakers.

[Sometimes getting along means knowing what discussion topics are just not worth it. Iskandar respects Saber as a fellow warrior, even if he thinks she was a lousy king. It's good then, neither of them is here in their royal capacity. Makes a lot of things easier.]
