Video
Name: Sokie Undertown
Date: Septeril 1st
Format: Video
[The video starts off with a woman sitting on the couch-or rather sprawled over it, holding up the Watch to her face level. Her expression, while it's usually amused and laid back, is a little grim. It seems she's seen the message that the Coven leaders have posted, and she's following through with her own response as to not clog up the feed.]
My name is Sokie, and I happen to be one of the new witches around here. And while I could go on and on, I'm just going to get into the heart of the matter. It's about the diplomatic and not so diplomatic mission.
Some of us should stay behind.
[Briefly, she holds up a hand.]
Hear me out. This isn't because of anything lacking, it's not to make it easier on the Dorries. It's more...we're going to be on their territory, far away from our own base. Whatever way we go in, they're going to have the advantage of the place, even with the resistance in their midst.
It may be possible that we'll somehow have our Watches not work in the city, for some, utterly mysterious reason.
[Her eyes widen, exaggerated, about the "mysterious" thing. Mystery her eye.]
It may not be a terrible idea for those of us to bond, and have one half stay behind. I know this is a crappy choice, and I know that it's terrible to be the one to be left behind. I'm planning on going myself, mostly to play the voice of compromise.
But if we're captured, if we're cut off from all communication, those remaining in the city need to know. We need each other, and I for one want to make sure that if they plan to screw us over, we can screw them right back.
[She brings up a hand in a salute]
Anyway. Sokie, out.

I hate to break it to you. Truly but...I've lived long enough to know that no place is safe.
The difference here is that we think we know what may happen.
But we don't.
no subject
Then is there any point?

It doesn’t matter whether I want you or not, right? You won’t be any worse off, even if this theory won’t work out.
no subject
It is important. I wouldn't be dithering so much if I wasn't worried for you.
Because I care about what you want. Because I don't want to hurt you.
[And Paloma seems...delicate.]
no subject
Okay. Alright.
I want you. I want lots of things and lots of people so much that I don't remember it being any other way. I want to... have another excuse to be there.
no subject
Oh dearheart.
[Sokie sighs. There's a lot that she could say right then. Refuse, talk about vampire traits...she remembered how Paloma suddenly gorged herself on pastries and coffee after all.]
Do you think you'd be able to hold onto yourself? Stand up to me? I know I'm a woman of strong emotion and opinions. And I know you do want to please me.
...and I would be interested to see how much we could please each other.
Would it please you to have a piece of me? To absorb my excess magic, to balance me as I would balance you?

[ If Paloma seems sharper, more withdrawn, it isn't an imagined change. ]
But you met me too late to ever do what you're afraid of. I won't be anyone's doll or puppet to pull at however they want. Maybe we shouldn't do this after all, if you think you'll try.
no subject
My dear, it's not fear. It's concern. I'm allowed to be worried, aren't I?
[Her voice seems to be warmed, relaxed more then she was before.]
If I wasn't, I wouldn't be better then them. I wouldn't. Why don't we go on trial, see how it works for us?
If you don't like it or if I don't, then we'll let it dissolve. No harm done.
no subject
A trial... could be fine. For me, for you.
I've heard if things go south for people who've done it, they both suffer for a long, long time. Are you willing to risk yourself?
no subject
We'll talk it out if it's not working out. No hard feeling from me if you want to dissolve it.
Even if it means we're both hurting after. It's better to have the ache then to keep hurting each other.
no subject
You're right, and I'd hate to be hurting you at all, for any reason.
I'm— I'm sorry for implying you'd do your worst. It wasn't really you that I was thinking of. We should be all right, if it's just each other to worry about.
[ Dorchacht is something else. ]
no subject
I didn't think you were. Not really.
But yeah, while there's the world, and there will be drama-there's always drama-you can always talk to me. That'll be part of my vows.
no subject
... I'll work on the rest in private. This was probably too public for what it needed.
no subject
We can talk about our vows later, in private. No one needs to know but us.
no subject
Talk- talk soon, Sokie.
