He takes out his makeshift earplugs, (strips of cotton dipped in wax), that he's been wearing as a low tech safeguard against orders and the compulsion and enters her lab proper.]

You know I'm not the best with this stuff, but hopefully some of this should be useful.

[He sets down a sack he'd had slung over one shoulder. The bag meets the floor with an enticingly heavy clunK.]

[ Entrapta springs up in excitement at that promising sound – she'd been working on something incomprehensible, but she'd known as soon as Niles entered the building due to a combination of spider-web vibrations and signals from the machinery she'd previously instructed him on how to disable, so by the time he gets up to the lab she's ready to put what she's doing down. ]

Aah, this is awesome – [ She hesitates with one hand in the bag. ] Oh! Are those earplugs?

[He nods as he starts pulling things out of the sack. There's a large spool of copper wire, assorted scrap metal, some thick, slightly rusted piping. Most of the stuff on the top layer are things he grabbed as he was leaving the junk yard. Just miscellaneous that could fill the remaining space in his bag.]

It's not an ideal defense against the compulsion, but it's simple and easy.

[He knows there are some witches around that are supposedly on their side offering different wards and protections, but he'd rather avoid any magic being done to him given everything he's been through with The Squip.]
