[ The wonderful denizens of Aefenglom are treated to Iramaat's dulcet tones - although they're pitched down into something almost like a pout or even despair. ]

This is unacceptable, it really is. [ There's a long-suffering sigh and then she continues. ]

Pulling me across time and space and one thing, but this? Is another. They've changed my ears! My beautiful, beautiful ears...

[ Sounds like someone got their first bit of change since their arrival. And she decides to prove that am oment later with a sepia-toned picture of herself. Her long, pointy elf-ears have been replaced with a pair of ears that more closely resemble those of a deer (and they seem to have shifted slightly up the sides of her head). They've even got that dusting of fur, although it's hard to tell what color it all is. Her expression is incredibly morose and not at all happy. Maybe even a bit overwrought. ]

At least tell me I'm not the only one...? [ Well, she half knows that, but she wants to confirm it. ]

[Justine is laying in bed, her dark hair fanning around her lovely features as the device flickers to life. If Iramaat looks closely, she might see a book sitting on the pillow next to Justine.]

I think they're lovely.

Are they sensitive?

[She's noticed changes in others and she's curious. Why are these changes only happening to some of them and are they felt? Are they permanent? What does it mean?]

Well, they're ears, of course they're going to be sensitive.

[ She's practically pouting now. ]

But thank you, I suppose. I thought they were going to ruin my looks...

[Justine's lips quirk into a delicate smile.]

I'm happy to say that they haven't.

Are you worried that there will be more changes? So many, have been changing it seems.

Do you think there will be...?

[ Huh. She hadn't considered that. ]

I wasn't that worried about it, but my ears...

[ishisstrength]

[Oops.]

I am sorry Iramaat. Perhaps we can stop it or ask the Coven?

So this is what you look like when you're unhappy, huh?

[He should be apologetic. But.]]

Come on. Having fur on your ears isn't so bad.

[Just look at him!]

It's not the fur, it's the shape! They're... so broad.

[ She's not really whining, but there's a note of it in her voice all the same. ]

Not nearly as pretty as they ought to be...

voice;

[sullenstallion]

Are you sure that's it? The shape looks the same to me.

[Is he teasing? Is he serious? It's impossible to tell.]

It's not even close to being the same! I can't believe you'd say something like that...

[ Wow, this is awful. She doesn't deserve this. Yes she does. ]

It's not like I paid much attention to your ears, you know. Can you explain the difference in shape again? Maybe I'll get it this time.

[He won't.]

Not ears, but nah, you're not the only one. [America tilts his head enough to show the blue-scaled wings on his back.]

[ Iramaat sighs. ]

At least wings are an improvement on you...

[Wow! America huffs.] Not that my wings don't look cool, but I already looked awesome without them.

I suppose, but I don't really have a point of comparison. I think it's probably better.

[ She's jsut gonna assert her opinion as fact, don't mind her.

Or do, actually, because it's sorta rude. ]

[Good thing America is rude and tends to assert his opinions as facts, too.

Wait no that is just going to make this conversation worse.]

It definitely isn't. It doesn't fit with the rest of me at all! Your deer ears fit you having horns so you definitely have it easier.

[He is the King of Suffering, even though he also said his wings looked cool earlier.]

You're not the only one.

[ It's accompanied by a picture as well, mostly focusing on an ear that looks like it would've once been a run-of-the-mill human ear, now somewhat elongated and with a fuzz of black fur growing in. ]

Well, at least it's an improvement over your old one. You are human, aren't you?

[scaling]

Yeah. Or I was, anyway.

[ Now? He definitely doesn't look or feel the part. ]

The improved hearing is cool. [ Yeah, he's taking that comment from a functional standpoint. Akira's never really considered the aesthetic value of his own ears. ]

How much improved? I think I might have some of that myself, but I haven't really tested it, you know?

[ Chatter, chatter, chatter. ]

[scaling]

[ He sounds completely unbothered; turns out he's used to chatty people. ]

Not much, just enough to be noticeable. [ Like being surprised to find the source of a noise farther than he would have normally expected. ]

Have you had other changes, too?

[At the deepest level, Solas is deeply grieved - his people have lost so much, and this is another example of such a loss. To be twisted against her will... it strikes him at his core. It reaffirms his wish to save his people, Iramaat included. He's indignant, also, to see that in her naivety she makes public her grief to the maddening masses who cannot understand.

But, well. There's also a more superficial feeling - the same part of him frustrated by, and envious of, Iramaat - that's prevailing at the moment. He takes petty glee in this. It's just too perfect.

As such, Solas laughs as he watches the video. Like a shadow, irony is ever present at the heels of his people. For all their pride, there always comes a fall.

Once he's done laughing he clicks his watch on. The lingering warmth of his laughter can still be heard in his voice. (He chooses voice call precisely so that she can hear it.)]

Come now, Iramaat. Consider. Nothing is more elven than transfiguration.

[ To be fair, IRamaat did this for the attention.

It just hasn't all been as positive as she would have liked. She brightens a little - or at least her voice seems to - when she hears his voice. Even if he is laughing at her. ]

Oh, you're probably right, but I usually prefer to be the one choosing what gets transfigured. On the rare occasion that I've actually... changed things.

[The warmth in his voice fade into something kinder and merely affable.]

True enough. It is disturbing to have one's will overridden when one comes from a world where will makes reality. [Certainly it's unnerving for all the newcomers, but especially for the pair of them: they must acclimitise not only in a new world but a new material world.]

Did your people only rarely manifest new forms?

[wylderrant]

Oh, some of us did. Some of us changed shape and faces nearly on the hour, if they felt like it. I wasn't one of those, though...

[ She sounds a bit wistful. ]

I like my face, my form, my shape. It's comfortable. It's who I am - and to know who you are, to have your name held so dear and close is wonderful, isn't it?

[veilfires]

[He understands. His own forms are deliberately chosen, and all are well-worn – they’re both the mask he wears to the world and who he is. The sum of history and purpose rather than whim. Her wistfulness is echoed back.]

Yes. It’s with such constancy – knowing who you are – that a being of change can hope to be known by others as well.
