[Kyo is used to transforming. He's the Cat of the zodiac and all, so he has two forms back home. The regular housecat and....well, his True Form. The reason he's both more calm over being called a monster and the reason he bristles at it, given that situation back home and all.

That is not to say that he isn't finding this frustrating all the same. Namely in regards to clothing with this being a more gradual transformation rather than just instant where he suddenly usually no longer fits into whatever he had been wearing with the zodiac curse back home.....]

....Dammit! This damned tail! So what, I'm just expected to rip holes into all my pants now? Not being the only one is debatable in this if that's comforting or more irritating in pissing me off.

[His life. He's finally free of the curse here and he is still. Turning into a cat anyway. Because of course he is. And then he winces, hissing briefly in pain when he nicks his lower lip with his fangs.]

Seriously though, there's probably some kind of tailor or something around, right? For....for people that are changing like this? Ah, right. And uh, introductions, I guess. Or whatever. I'm Kyo. Kyo Sohma.

[For those that he might not yet have run into or talked to. Introductions were only polite and all, so he should probably. Add his name in there somewhere at least, for this first time. Not that Tohru is around to remind him about that sort of thing but. Well, over time, she is rubbing off on him some, at least.]

[Mary takes great pains to beat down the urge to grab that tail again. He bites at his lip and fiddles with his hands instead. Be glad, Kyo.]

Have you found anybody who knows how yet?

I think so. Luckily.

[He just wouldn't want to make this worse trying to figure fixing this himself somehow. He is okay with basic sewing repairs with clothes maybe but not so much in dealing with tails and the like. For obvious reasons.]

[Oh! So the problem's already solved. Mary perks up.]

Okay! I'll just get a brush then.

A brush? For what?

[He already quickly runs one through his hair in the mornings after a shower. He hasn't quite considered the idea of needing to brush out the tail. Not used to the transformation and fur being more permanent like this.]

["For what?" he asks! Obviously it's to groom his most precious pet kitty.]

You can't reach back there to lick it, right? I can brush your tail for you!

Wha -- no! It isn't that bad?

[Of course it is harder to tell. But Kyo doesn't think he's been that bad in getting it that dirty or matted or anything since it only appeared recently and all? Mary probably has a better view of it to be sure though. In comparison to Kyo who tries to glance over his shoulder a bit.]

It's going to be when you start shoving it through your pants.

It won't be that bad.

[Or. Well, he hopes. He hasn't actually really had to deal with the tail amid his clothes as a human.]

I'll have the brush ready.

[He's going to make this happen, Kyo. Accept it.]

H-hey!

[Kyo can totally do this himself! Maybe. Possibly. He might at least manage to brush out the ends of the tail. He just isn't used to this. To others insisting on helping him, or at least, that weren't Tohru or Shishou and even then their methods were usually less....of a demand or order?]

[If Mary were meaner he would agree to let Kyo try on his own first and watch him fail with an evil grin. As it is, he just wants to brush a cat tail. There's nothing particularly helpful or kind-hearted about it, whoops.]

Hey, what. It's not like I want you to sit in my lap or anything.

No way!

[If that ever happens, Mary will be waiting a good while or until Kyo is that tired and/or sick in letting that happen, letting his guard down that much with him. With anyone but Tohru, basically.]

I just said I didn't want that either!

[Kyo would squash him!!1!]

So just leave me alone and I'll figure this myself!

[Kyo is just rather particular in regards to affection, let alone the supposed more intimate things like helping with brushing hair or bathing or whatever. He's not used to anyone wanting to help, at least outside of Tohru, but he's also used to managing himself, mostly.]

[He tenses up, straight as a board and twice as defiant. Maybe he's still talking about brushing cat fur, but the scrunched up look on his face says otherwise. Kyo's gonna have to physically kick him out before Mary leaves him to deal with this crap on his own.]

Tch.....

[He's reminded of Kagura with how stubborn Mary is at the moment in invading his space. Kyo frowns, raising an eyebrow as he tries to keep from turning his back on the other to invite him touching the tail.]

I said I'd figure it myself. Just leave it already. Why are you being so stubborn about this anyway?

[Because he knows what it's like to wake up one day and realize his body has morphed into that of a monster.]

I don't want to be alone! You shouldn't either.

I won't brush your tail, okay?

W-what? Where is this -- huh?

[Where was this coming from? Sure, Kyo might not be too worried if Momiji is being dramatic and bawling over Kyo tapping him on the head for his antics sometimes, but he isn't entirely heartless? Which is why he seems to all but visibly deflate, changing from being tense to just....flopping almost in 'defeat'.]

Just....hey, don't cry?

[If that's really all Kyo wants...

Mary hastily rubs the run-away tears with his jacket sleeve, hiccupping with every conscious effort to hold back more.]

[Kyo sighs, running a hand through his mop of red hair as he initially glances to the side. Maybe Mary would be better not having Kyo look at him until he stopped with the tears, if Kyo gave him a moment.

Which he does. Until he hears the hiccuping and he glances to the other.]

Need some water?

[He shakes his head, and after another few shaky breaths, he manages to say what he really wants.]

Even monsters can be useful... right? I can be useful.

Huh? Course.

[That was something Tohru was teaching them all. That they all had some worth, that they were more than and able to rise up above the mess of their family. That and, well. Kyo probably could figure handling dealing with living on his own for the most part, but it did help having someone else with him.]

[The certainty with which Kyo answers throws Mary off for several seconds. Then he remembers how to breathe.]

Yeah... Yeah! So I will be! I'll even be useful to you, so you have to let me help.

Help how?

[He's....pretty sure there is probably more to this than Mary having a meltdown over Kyo's tail here. He's just not quite sure what. On the specifics of why Mary feels so strongly about being useful somehow.]
