[That's a distinctive nasally tone coming in over the voice channel this fine morning.] Hi. Hey. It's Hiccup. I'm, uh- Hello to the newest arrivals. This is partly to uh- sometimes we don't always, show up with everything we'd like to have, so if you plan to go past the wall and don't have weapons or armor, I run the Forge just outside town with Percy. We're both smiths and we do commission work, so- you know. If you need anything. We also do enchantments! Mostly me.

But-! That's not, really what I'm here for today. [He has more important priorities right now than advertising the Forge.] I thought I'd try asking around, since- Well. I need to find a Bond, or potential Bond, for my friend. Preferably a Monster, but uh, at this point even a Witch would be better than nothing. My friend is- a little irritable sometimes, but he's a really good guy, and he's very talented and smart, and has some pretty neat hobbies. They should be patient and have a sense of humor, and be willing to keep him from working too hard once in a while. To- to be a friend.

So, um. Let me know, and I can set you up to see if things work out! [A pause.] This really is for a friend, by the way, not... not me. [Yeah that's convincing. He manages to tell the truth and still sound like he's being avoidant of the truth somehow.]

That won't take too long, I don't think. If you have any design specifications you can draw them out real quick and send me a picture? [A dagger sounds easy but his idea of a dagger might not be the same size and shape as someone else's idea of a dagger; he's learned about more than one different style of weapon from other worlds, after all.]

Percy and I get really wrapped up in projects, so- it couldn't hurt to have someone else to tidy up sometimes! [Hiccup especially tends to accumulate clutter on his workbench, and that's not getting into all the soot, metal shavings, material scraps, and bits and bobs.] You're fine with dragons, right? I- I have two. They're usually around the forge with us.

[ He quietly hums. ]

I'll see what I can come up with.

[ He's never actually designed a weapon, but that sounds fun. ]

Dragons? [ . . . ] As in... flying, breathing fire, possibly dangerous?

[ And, rather than how a sane person might be over the possibility of a deadly creature, he sounds hopeful. ]

Sure, take your time. It doesn't have to be very detailed, just a vague idea of what you want. [It doesn't hurt to ask. Hiccup doesn't want to waste metal on something that won't be what the person asks for. Being able to defend oneself here is- it's important, even if he believes the city is generally safe. Outside the wall certainly isn't.]

Flying, yes. Fire-breathing, yes. Dangerous, not so much. [His dragons are very well-trained, thank you very much.] Toothless and Sharpshot aren't aggressive unless provoked. They're great around humans.
