[That's a distinctive nasally tone coming in over the voice channel this fine morning.] Hi. Hey. It's Hiccup. I'm, uh- Hello to the newest arrivals. This is partly to uh- sometimes we don't always, show up with everything we'd like to have, so if you plan to go past the wall and don't have weapons or armor, I run the Forge just outside town with Percy. We're both smiths and we do commission work, so- you know. If you need anything. We also do enchantments! Mostly me.

But-! That's not, really what I'm here for today. [He has more important priorities right now than advertising the Forge.] I thought I'd try asking around, since- Well. I need to find a Bond, or potential Bond, for my friend. Preferably a Monster, but uh, at this point even a Witch would be better than nothing. My friend is- a little irritable sometimes, but he's a really good guy, and he's very talented and smart, and has some pretty neat hobbies. They should be patient and have a sense of humor, and be willing to keep him from working too hard once in a while. To- to be a friend.

So, um. Let me know, and I can set you up to see if things work out! [A pause.] This really is for a friend, by the way, not... not me. [Yeah that's convincing. He manages to tell the truth and still sound like he's being avoidant of the truth somehow.]

While this is probably really sweet and I'm sure a Bond would be good... Does your friend know you're doing this...?

He's lost all right to know what I'm doing because he won't listen that he needs to find a Bond eventually, for his own health. [Their friendship is a little strange and off the wall because they're both workaholic smiths who share a forge and also now kind of a pet dragon.]

I'm not spreading his name around or anything. Not until someone who might work out pops up.

Fair enough. I'll admit I don't know the full repercussions of not being bonded, yet, so I'll just have to take your word for it that this is for the best...

[They are still firmly sitting in the "It Can't Be That Bad, Right?" camp.]

Um... Well. I don't know that I'd be a good fit, but... Er. I'm sure there's plenty of monsters here that'd be better!

We've both been here for a while and he's gone far too long without one. [He's not going to spread around the details of how it's affecting said friend, but Hiccup has seen it, hell, has even felt the effects himself, months ago before he managed to Bond his best friend.]

Well if you know anybody, I really did mean that he's a great guy.

[Hiccup sighs at the familiar voice, able to let a little more of his worry show through with a friend.] I'm not sure. I just know it's been way too long and I'm- concerned. I know what it feels like, you know?

Mm, it's probably not fair to call them difficult. I'm just worried that they'll take too much time coming around to the idea.

I understand. If we are brought to this world and have no means to escape their magics, we must... adapt. [ She hates the thought, personally? But, if it helps them – they have ways to manipulate the situation in their favor. ] Has he grown weaker, as of late? Perhaps your friend more irrational near the full moon?

into pressuring people to bond right off the bat but how many months has it been? people explode. that happens here.

I'm managing fine.

maybe, but shouldn't the goal be to do more than just manage? i've been through this, though not nearly as bad, and it was exhausting for me.

[ 'Managing' has been about all Percy ever aims for so no, that sounds about right. ]

I'm not sure how having someone bound to me is supposed to be less exhausting.

there are ways to block it off so you aren't feeling everything. and it really does help, right away. all that magic build-up could actually kill you.

i don't want to lose my friend.

[thisisamazing]

You can push longer than you might think, but eventually... It takes a toll. I was starting to feel it myself before I bonded with my partner. I couldn't sleep, I was irritable, my magic kept backfiring. It was a little over four months at that point, I think?

Unfortunately he doesn't seem to want to adapt to this particular thing. [It sounds like a conversation he's had a thousand times with this friend.] I'm not sure about the moon, I know Mirrorbound Witches are actually stronger on the New Moon, but... I don't think his magic has been working right.

Building things, really cool things. He knows a lot about stuff I've never even seen before. And he's good with animals! Or, an animal. [A tiny dragon. This friend is good with a tiny dragon.]
