I was just wondering if anyone here could teach me a song they know from home. It can be any song, but I promised someone that I would learn one for her. And as I'm not going to be moving any time soon, it seemed to me that now would be the best time. Isn't that right, Sumo?

[He gets absolutely no acknowledgement from the dog.]

Don't worry, I would only have to hear it once. I have a very good memory.

[And maybe people could use a little distraction from whatever that dream was.]

There are a great many I could think of... what kind of song were you interested in, Connor? A tragedy? Or perhaps something more light hearted?

Is that so? [Justine's voice takes on a light air of teasing as she addresses Connor.] Are you trying to make me jealous Connor?

[She isn't but that doesn't mean she can't tease him about it. Teasing is a natural response for Justine and as always, it brings a smile to her lips.]

As for songs, I don't know too many off the top of my head. I could maybe sing for you but I'd rather do it in person and I might also not want you to share them. [She's stalling because the only song that she's currently remembering is Elton John which is hardly helpful.] You should also probably be careful singing to people. I'd have for a crowd to show up while you were singing for your girlfriend or me if we're both home. [They live very close together.]

I do like heavy metal... but I like a lot of other music, too.

I've actually found that singing in my usual state doesn't attract people. It apparently makes them toss coins my way, though. I'd be tempted to do it just for that.

That's good to know. [Both for her own sake and his.] Do you enjoy being a street performer? I could make you attire to match if you'd like. [She's very much enjoying her time sewing and she'd like to make something nice for him though she doesn't know what styles he'd feel the most comfortable in.

She can make him another tie...]

Mm? Only if you want too. I'd hate to be an after thought.

[Justine pauses thoughtfully.]

If you sang me a song, what kind of song would it be?

It was more of an accident than anything, but I wouldn't mind performing for people if they enjoyed it.

[He'd rather play an instrument, though.]

You could never be an afterthought, Justine. What kind of songs do you like? Slow ones? Happy ones?

[Justine laughs softly.]

I can still make you an outfit. I'll leave finding an instrument to you. [He might look cute with a top hat too.]

Oh? I like many types of songs but I'll only tell you if you first tell me what kind of song you'd want to sing to me. [She's being difficult and playful. Hopefully Connor doesn't mind. With the receding affects of the dream, Justine is bashing in feeling more like herself.]

[Connor gives her a smile that's almost shy.]

A love song? Something soft and pretty.

[But that's mostly because he's a romantic and really likes Justine.]

Metal. [That's interesting. Okay, then. It picks over its database for something it thinks is... appropriate for Connor.

And then it begins to sing.

The song it sings is dark, but undoubtedly sexual in nature, an abstract type of seductive that it thinks is fitting.]

[The song isn't bad, and the SQUIP has a very nice voice, but he does take note of those lyrics. It feels like it chose them on purpose.]

I like it, but I might not sing this one in public.

[Ah, wait- he'd almost forgotten that Connor was looking for something to sing to a lady. Drinking songs are firmly off the list- as are, he now realises, the ones from his own period. Maybe expecting Connor to master Old Irish for the sake of a single song is too much.

It's a good thing, really, that his last summoning gave him a little chance to learn some slightly more modern ones. One of them's even from the same century as his last Master. Amazing.]

Hmm. The bolder songs are never as melodic. [nice save] My Lagan Love, maybe?

[That's because it did. Maybe it wanted to lightly remind Connor of a night not long ago...

It smirks, but seems to think. Connor wants something he can sing to other people. Something radio-friendly, then.

How about one that doubles as advice?

Is it good advice? No. But there it is.]

That's cute. My favorite songs are love songs. I think one goes... "Don't you think the world has had enough of silly love songs?" [The sweet notes of her voice lowers as she continues.] "I look around me and I see that isn't so."

[Justine smiles and almost looks bashfully away.]

That song makes me think of you. I don't know many songs all the way through though. I only know bites and pieces. Whatever I can remember.

[Maybe he can teach it to her, so she knows another song all the way through.]

[Interesting, and not advice Connor will likely take. It's a song though, and it's catchy, so he can see himself singing it to himself.]

I could check the library for you. [Those kinds of books often have notes in the c-scale which each word which would let him learn them without issue.]
