I'm not sure how many have you have heard. But there's an orphanage in the harbor district that... [She pauses, had Eren told everyone he was the mysterious benefactor?] That changed hands recently. They've been making improvements now, but there's a lot of things that need doing.

[She really lacked the charisma for this. A huff slips out as eventually she gives up and just goes for the good old blunt way.]

Children grow a lot and they need clothes that fit better and will keep them warm when the snow comes.

[Oh... as someone who grew up with very little, this cause speaks to her quite personally. Karin is quick to respond, a note of concern in her voice.]

What can be done to help? It's possible that some of the local tailors might be willing to part with some clothes at a discounted price if they knew it was going to such a good cause.

I think they might have offcuts. [Enjoy the quiet sound of Mikasa scratching her head.] Though I'm not sure about getting the money to clothe them all. The last time I was there there was thirty-six children. [number may vary, that was the nature of adoption and orphanages.]

Some of them will need custom adjustments for wings and tails too.

[There was a lot of little things that went into it. Mikasa had thought about them a lot given the state of her world, but she'd never had to plan them. Not enough to have a set plan for a donation drive.]

That makes sense. So you'll need volunteers who are handy with a needle and thread too, most likely.

Are any of the children around my size? I don't really need as many clothes as I have right now, especially when I start to grow out of them.

They do. But food doesn't have to be modified for each child, some of them are monsters with wings and that.

I wouldn't say no to anyone bringing them extra though.

And I still remember a few games that my siblings and I used to play when we were young. Maybe they'll give me more competition than Jiang Cheng did.

I'm not sure. But I am worried about them staying warm during winter. It's an old building, even if Ee- The new owner has been paying for repairs. But more hands wouldn't be complained about.

Especially with keeping the children entertained. Or teaching them things like reading...

[Mikasa was actually useless there, the kids could read more than her.]

Considering how generous the Mirrorbound are to orphans, it surely can't be terribly difficult to find volunteers to help care for them, right? I would offer myself, but I'm afraid I'm spending most of my time these days on my own endeavors.

I could spare the time to help with repairs, it being a task with a more foreseeable completion date. [ pauses, pondering. ] The building could be insulated and warmed through magical means. The spellwork itself is very simple. With another with or two, plus the necessary materials, the building could be heated within a few days.

I'm no tailor, but I can mend and adjust clothing pretty well and I worked with the orphanage in my hometown before I arrived here. I'll help in whatever way I can, please don't hesitate to ask.

Huh... I don't think I could ask that much. I don't work there. They just... don't have much.

They're such good children, I've been helping out a little since I got here, I'd love to do more. Perhaps we could arrange some fundraising events to help raise money?

Was thinking of, um, maybe trying to set up one of those grab bags for the holiday coming up. Think maybe people'd wanna help out with that too?

Professor Croix and I wound up having an overage in our budgeting for the schoolhouse for the orphanage, so we can cycle some of that back into the winter needs budget, as well!

It won't be much, but it's a start, right?

-uh- I think you'd need to talk to the owner of the orphanage to do that. I don't work there.

Oh, I apologize, I didn't mean to assume.

There was an effort by the Mirrorbound Council to secure funding for education for the orphanage. I'm part of that effort, though I do not serve on the council. We were able to secure funding, and now it's just a matter of budgeting.

Whenever I am not there, I have been looking for clothing, toys or blankets that some people decided to throw away.

[Mikasa didn't work there... Not really. But she did help out, appearing to coddle the kids. An occasionally have to be stopped from absently walking off with one.]

Um... I can't think of much else. [Leanne pretty much had the basics.] Maybe some of the foods in the city. They are being better fed now, but they like cakes. It'd be nice to let them try things...
