[Rather than a person, this video opens on an image from the Underground - heavily infected veins through the earth where the Red Death algae seems to begin, and the signs of a less virulent pink moss beyond if one looks closely enough at the image.]

So I know everyone down here is gonna be pretty busy trying to figure out how to deal with this Red Death problem, but it looks like these infected veins are a big part of it and I want to try to deal with them. If we can purge them kinda like that leyline through the forest a few months ago, I think it'd help, but I'll need a lot more Witches than just me and we'll also need Monsters to back us up while we work. Don't worry if you're new, I did this in my first month here, just let me know and I can show you how to do it. It's pretty much about pushing clean magic in to force the infection out, so even someone who's recently gotten in touch with their magic can throw in with us and it'll make a bigger difference the more people we can get together!

[Momo finally turns the camera on himself, looking pretty serious for him but also with...some kind of weird semi-transparent pink bubble shield over his mouth and nose. The joys of trying to bash together a consistent anti-spore shielding spell through trial and error.] I'm sending a message to the Matriarch too and I hope we can get some locals, but anyone who can help, whether you need a bit of guidance on it or not, is totally welcome! This is gonna be a big job, but I think it'd really help to strike at the source of the problem, even if you can only be here for a little while. Every bit would count. If you've got any questions before you come, I can answer them here, otherwise we can organise things when you get down here! I'll be in the circled tunnel.

[Attached to the post is a hand-drawn, seemingly recent "map" with the problem tunnels marked in red, all smaller ones, plus one in a fairly central position circled. It's essentially more of a marker of where the tunnel entrances are relative to other tunnels and what edge of the city they're on, but it's at least enough to position oneself.]

Other experienced characters are welcome to help show the method to newcomers as well, Momo just wants enough people to be able to do a decent attempt at a purge! You can also let me know OOC if your character would be involved so I have an idea of what kind of numbers he'd end up with, via Plurk/PM/game Discord depending on your pref. The main thing to know is that this is targeted particularly around where the Red Death begins in the tunnels since purging entire tunnels wouldn't be possible in this amount of time.]]

Yeah, I figure it's the only method we've got that'll do much in the tunnels, we can't exactly burn back down here like with the forest.

[There'll only be so much they can do in this kind of time, but Momo figures it's better than nothing and maybe the Underground Witches can maintain the efforts if they want to keep it going afterwards.]

Someone as experienced as you would be great to have helping out! I hope we get some of the newcomers since that'd help a lot with numbers, but they'd need the run-down on how to do it and the more who can get them started, the merrier.

Oh right, some of you wouldn't have heard about here yet... [Momo goes for as much information as he can get so readily that he almost forgot the Underground wouldn't necessarily be common knowledge to the newcomers.]

So the Coven has two teleporters to other places set up - there's one at the North Gate of the city that goes to the Northern Outpost. If you take that one and talk to the people at the outpost, they can show you how to get to the Underground and the city down here. It's a bit of a walk to the tunnels, but the actual route is pretty straightforward and clear since we used it a bunch last month.

[L's not out battling this; in fact, it might not be the best idea for him, considering he's still ten fingers short of a pair of hands. But he's watching the network for news, and current events certainly qualify as news.

[Momo notes the oddly deliberate speech, but doesn't pry considering he figures it's not his business and there's likely a reason this response is audio and not video. Thankfully, he's been moving into Evocation this month and happens to have started in the same kind of elemental area, so he might have some answers.]

You mean the infected veins or the Red Death algae stuff itself? I've tried cold on the algae but as far as the veins are concerned, I've only helped with a couple of corrupted areas this bad, so I've mostly kept to the same method since I'd rather it not blow up in anyone's face.

[It might be an interesting experiment for another time, but not when the city's being encroached on by the moss. He's focusing, for the moment, on what he knows works.]

[L does tend to avoid video, as a rule. He's an intensely private individual on the best of days, typically defaulting to text unless he knows he's conversing with one who is illiterate or blind.]

I mean both. And that's probably wise, not to unnecessarily agitate a volatile and unknown element...

[Not that he's above or beyond doing just that, if he judges the potential benefits worthy of the risks.]

Is there anything that's been shown to be detrimental or damaging to any extent, beyond the status quo or infection's expected progression? Or have witches thus far adhered to using "clean magic" to fight this?

Flushing out the bad magic? That sounds... like a big and great plan! Count me in!

[Papyrus is in some other branch of the tunnels, sans air bubble, and a fair dusting of spores caught in his fur and bone as a result. He's bouncing on the edge of his feet at the notion.]

But, you said monsters are for back-up. Are we being bodyguards...? Or helping cycle magic, like with those batteries?

[At least Momo figures a skeleton isn't going to have too much of an issue with needing to breathe, so that's an advantage. Either way, he grins easily at the question.]

Bodyguards. The times I've done this sort of thing before, they've always said Monsters watching people's backs is really important, because the Witches are focusing so much on the process. So we need people who can keep an eye out for us - and drive threats away, because we're putting a lot of magic into it and we might not be able to fight effectively even if we do notice something.

There's a risk of minor infection on your fingertips, but one of the Witches that's offered to help is an experienced Cwyld healer! (ﾉ´ヮ´)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

And there's a moss available nearby that works against minor Cwyld infections, as well
So even if you do pick something up (I haven't when I've done this before), we're very prepared (´∇ﾉ｀*)ノ

[ The boy on the other end is looking a little flushed after being out in a blizzard, but he's also listening intently. Though the term leyline is new to him, this doesn't seem hard to follow. ]

I have two questions. Can I help even if I haven't successfully cast a spell yet, and is there anything you need? Not for the purge, exactly, but things like food and water.

[Momo gives him a welcoming grin, his eyes quickly moving up and down to make sure the boy doesn't look anything more than just cold from having been out in that.]

Leyline clearing is about force - or I guess amount of magic used - more than skill, some people I know were having trouble with spellcasting helped out with it when I first did it. So you should be okay there as long as you can at least connect to your magic. And...we're good on food and water at the moment, I'm pretty sure? Don't think anyone's gonna complain if you bring some, but most people are coming through the underground city on their way in anyway, and some of the local Academy students are bringing stuff with them.

Momo's own bed would be a hard steal since Yuki also uses it and the man sleeps in like a nocturnal creature and seeks out warmth like a reptile, but there's an unused bed in the spare room that would be very easily claimed by catkind.] You could call it a brute force method - we basically need Witches who can at least tap into their magic to direct as much as they can through these veins. [He turns the camera so he can point out a large infected vein along the tunnel wall, marking its path with his finger while he remains several metres away for safety.]

Putting enough clean magic into these kinds of infections "purges" them out, so numbers are the big thing here rather than experience or anything like that. Though I gotta wonder whether you've been flexing teleportation or something a bit, since that looks like my spare bed.

That's kinda pragmatic, isn't it...? [Though Momo seems to find it a bit funny, honestly. He did leverage this as something the surface had to offer if the way was open permanently.] But we do need a few more people on watch, so definitely feel free to come down. There's a bunch of Monsters down here who we could probably get to help, but it'll be a better example if we have some of our own too.

Yeah, I'm looking for a good amount of numbers since that'll increase our chances. Once the Matriarch gets back to me I'll have a better idea of the kind of local help we can expect, but she seemed interested last time I mentioned it.
